Guess I deserve what I got.

Man, what a let down!!! I got my Platypus coil today, but I don't believe it was made for my Explorer XS. I plugged it in, turned on my machine and it wouldn't come on. I unplugged the coil wire to my X-1 box, turned my machine on and plugged the coil back in and all I got was a loud hum. Guess I should have done more homework and asked you guys if this coil would work on my XS, but all Doc's add said was this coil was made for the Explorer and I just assumed it would work on all Explorer's. Back to the drawing boards. HH.

I have new batteries in and I do have power, but it just wasn't acting right. I will give it another try and see what happens. Thanks.

n/t

I own and use the XS with the Platypus on numerous hunts....Never had a problem switching between coils...
I would not hunt without the Platypus in my arsenal.
I would contact Doc A.S.A.P. to see if it can be rectified.......Good luck

Doc will make it good. Every manufactuer lets some bad coils get out. The cost for quality control to keep that from happening would put the coils in the unaffordable range. I guess they just stick a warranty on them and let you be the judge and replace the ones that don't work right. I have had it happen more than one on different brands, and even my Explorer and QXT were bad out of the box, I guess its the luck of the draw.
