so I don't go on the car forums slamming the car or the price. Never have, never will. I'm sure it has capabilities that I can only dream of.

Then, why do people come on here, without doing their homework, slam the Deus? No one is forcing anyone to buy the Deus. There are many more affordable units out there that work very well. It's ok to not afford one. Really.

The Deus has proven itself time and time again over in England in iron infested areas. It pulls out stuff that other detectors miss. Some folks are willing to pay for that. Some aren't. And it's OK.

After watching some of the videos on the Deus, I actually don't want folks to get one. :)
 
Slamming a detector that you have not even seen let alone used based on the price or some other quirk makes no sense and adds nothing to the content of the forum is a waste of one's time writing the message and the rest of the readers clicking on it . . . . . . . my co-worker is an avid fisherman and his latest bass boat set him back close to $25,000 but I would not think of questioning his expenditure - it's his money! . . . . at least with a detector we can recover the cost in a year or less.

As one infamous contributor would say "Just Sayin"

Maybe jealousy, maybe envy, maybe lack of money maybe nothing better to do because their miserable or upset about it or whatever???? If your detector is that good then go use it and be happy with it without dissing others that can and do want one of these and can afford it!!

What's the saying the more people I know the more I like my dog, cat, car, detector, whatever......

Don't go away mad just go away.... or go buy a Deus and try it out and see....
 
Funny, Last year, I talked to a well known Forum Dealer about this detector. He tried to get them to come in to the country and they did not, for whatever the reason. But I did like the detector and I might save up for one and see if I might be able to do a Lay- a - way with him. Maybe, do to the cost of the unit and the limited numbers in the country, they might extend the time frame for this. But who knows I will wait and see. Good luck to all !!!!

$1899 is the INTRODUCTORY price. I expect the price to go to $2100 - $2200 once a few more units get bought in the U.S. market...probably by midsummer.

I've heard the next software revision is bringing in some excitement....I'm hoping for a depth meter in inches and tones expansion.

i had to wait 6 months to get mine when it came out in the UK ,theres always a back order ......
 
I REALLY hope the update has a depth meter. The lack of a depth meter is the one thing that I had trouble with when looking at the Deus. A tone expansion would be nice for those that care to have more tones but the depth meter would be the big one for me. I can't wait to find out. I am getting my Deus tomorrow and really can't wait. I feel like a child on Christmas eve right now!

I see you do not have your unit yet but if you refer to the manaul, you will see that you have two choices on the main screen . . . . . the exerpt from the manual describes the function of each . . . . . might not read out in inches but if does provide you with information it sounds like you did not think was included . . . . .

depth meters "lie" anyway.. depending on the target size..... dig by the Deus' tone, and enjoy.... the horseshoe Andy posted will give you a general idea of "signal strength" which is what a depth meter generally does based on coin-sized targets, the horseshoe just puts in a different form. Good luck!
 
Thanks Andy and Terry, I did know that the horseshoe can be used to determine depth but it does not seem to be as clear to use as other depth gauges that I have had on other machines. I am not knocking it, as I have not gotten the chance to use it yet, but I have read quite a bit about it and it seems less precise than the depth gauges on say the E-Trac or V3i. Like I said, I speak from a place of ignorance as I have not used the Deus yet and I might find what it gives me to be just fine. I sure look forward to finding out over the next few days.
