While my birthday is today (the big "50".. ouch), Me, my wife and her mom went out to dinner last night at our favorite restaurant. When we got there, I was suprised to see everyone from the band and all their wives were there too! That was great!
Well, Vicky gave me a card and inside it said that a new Exp II was on it's way!!!! <IMG SRC="/metal/html/ml.gif" BORDER=0 width=30 height=15 ALT="m~"> Yowzer!!!! I should have it by next weekend and I can't wait!!! So, it gives me two months to get into the "swing" of things for the forum hunt. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
Well, I thought that was the big gift but it turned out there was a lot more. Looks like she's been planning and saving for this day for a couple of years... She gave me a stuffed baby seal and on it's flipper was a little card that said... get this... she booked us on a 7 day cruise to ALASKA this summer!!!! I couldn't believe it! I'm still in shock!!! That is one dream vacation (next to going to MI for the forum hunt that is <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">)

is so versitile. You can add such an arsenal to it, coils, probes.(Sunray X-1 would be my pick) Theres a new platypus coil out for it. Sound like it may be a better performer than the stock 10". There's been a lot of hype of problems pinpointing with this machine, however I find it to be simple and extremely accurate. Your first aftermarket purchase in my opinion should be Andy Sabish's book on this machine. It is a well addition to the factory manual. Good luck. And study before you take it out. Build you a test garden and learn its language. I'm still learning mine, and I am almost to the point of knowing what lies under the surface before I attempt to dig it. You definately got a winner coming. I've been doing some reading (looked at the manual) and have also been to Mike's site. Very helpful. Mike MI and Philo_NY should also be able to help out with settings. It does come with the "Exploring the Explorer" video. I'll pick up the book too eventually.
Funny you should mention about he the pinpointing... I've heard many people say that it was hard but many more who found it easy... don't see me going to an X-1 for quite some time (all things considered <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> ). Is there that much difference between a concentric coil and a double D? With the CZ-20, it's almost like I can see the target with the pinpoint, that's how tight it is. I do use a Vibrabrobe (don't need it at the beach though) and that's worked for me.

That's great Joe. Well you have fun at 50. I'm 50 too. Don't feel it though. Only when I swing my detector <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
I hope you both have a wonderful vacation. And don't forget to bring the detector. You never know what you're going to find up in Alaska or whatever port you may stay in. Just don't lose the thing.

That is great! My wife surprised me with a new Explorer about 3 birthdays ago, but no cruise! I'll have to talk with my wife about that! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> Congrats buddy! Any questions on the EX II ask away! Where did she buy it from?
 
I'm being caution in waiting for the other bass to be fully refunded before I reorder.
