Aint no saving this puppy . The salt water plus the ground minerals have kissed it. I posted this find yesterday in hope of finding a solution for cleaning it, but my friend told me today it would never run and it was gold plated. It has a marking onthe inside the back plate(B&B royal 20 years and some numbers below the writing) Found some stamped name in the guts (illinoise watch co springfield) My friend told me its not worth gettin involved in serious cleaning, because of the damage. So I cleaned it up a bit and just spent half my day gawlkin at it . Any of U guys ever dug a pocket watch and thought how somone could lose it?
But thanks for the suggestion. I think I will just put it in my glass fish bowl with my other finds. I did a research on the watch and found out it was made around circa 1912 got theserial numbers off the guts(what was left of them.) My neighbors are starting to think Im gifted in metal detecting because of my finds The month of May has been good for me a 10K bracelet with the Ace, a silver ring and the pocket watch with the PRo. Pretty cool about the warranty for the watch for 20 years , the way I understand the warranted part, is for the gold filling to last that long?
