I took the 70 out for quite an enjoyable hunt today at my fav spot. I decided to be a bit looser with the TID than I normally am, due to learning that there were a lot of coins that have been pulled out of this spot in the last few weeks that I've clearly been walking over. (Always nice to find out.) Pulled up a couple of goldies ($ coins) and got a signal that read a solid 28, which is usually junk. It gave a week pinpoint, which was a good sign and recovered half a $2 coin that had been greeted by a mower.
Not long after, I got talking to a couple who used to detect, are are keen to take it up again. We must have talked for about an hour, then it was back to the hunt.
Not long before I knocked off, I got a good signal and only half looked at the screen before putting down the detector and recovering the target. I was quite surprised to see a Zinc penny! Only the forth one I've found to date.
It sure was good to pull the X-terra out again and use the 6in concentric coil. The only other hunting it's done recently was at a spot that was last week when I took all my detectors with me to a kids camp and took some of the kids out for a hunt at one of the oldest site in this country. It dated back to 1826 and although we couldn't keep anything significant due to heritage listing, the owners did allow us hunt there(I'm not going to publish where that spot is out of respect to the land owners, so please don't ask as I won't respond.) Actually; while I had the kids engaged in the hunts, one of the other parent leaders at the camp that were running another activity, said that quite a number of kids at that activity were jealous that they couldn't detect.
The kids found a number of coins, but nothing old unfortunately. They all had fun and one of the other parents, couldn't keep himself away and had to have a go.
