Set out this morning for a new place that didn't turn out at all. Gravel under an inch or so of topsoil, tough to dig in you can bet. I decided to run by my old high school again and see what I could unearth. I've had some great hunts there and didn't want to travel to far to swing today. I've mentioned in some other posts they are remodeling the school and building a new sports complex. When I arrived today there was a crew rolling out huge rolls of sod in front of the school, my first thought was are they going to sod the student center area where I had some great hunts. I asked and well, they will scrape it and roll it tomorrow
I don't want to hunt it after that. Anyway I grabbed the ET and X8 coil and went to swinging this area for the last time. I dug a few coins and thought "I need to be in another mode", this will be gone!!!!! I've got probably 15 hunts in this one spot and it has been very good to me. Went back to the truck and hooked up the X12 coil and switched over to 2 tone ferrous, I know I can swing it fast and just dig. BTW I didn't even have to cover my holes the crew leader said, gonna scrape it tomorrow
I put the lesch trowel in the truck and grabbed the ground shark. I realized the way I was gonna hunt this place while hunting an old plantation and using 2 tone ferrous. You just dig what dings the right tone......No need to look at a TID, beep and dig. I ran the sensitivity in auto +3 and just ran quickmask with 30-35 the bottom of the screen discriminated out. I went to swinging and I mean 2 second swings and dug a coin right at the truck on the first pass of the coil. I literally walked and swung the ET all over this area and couldn't get a step before digging something else. This is crazy, the dirt is not giving birth to coins, I've hunted the heck out of this spot and still getting coins. I don't know if it was the 2 tone ferrous or the fact I was swinging a bigger coil but coins were still a popping left and right. From 1245 to 1600 I dug 106 targets, 85 of them coins. I'm tickled with my results. I also dug a really pretty .925 heart shaped necklace, one coin was a wheat, 1956, the year I was born and the year the school opened. Kind of ironic if you ask me. Here's some pics......I'll sleep good tonight
