Had a wonderfull experience yesterday.

Yesterday Janet and i attended service at a Baptist chruch.
Now we have allready been goin to a Baptist church for the past 5 er so years and we love it, it's our 'home'.
Yesterday we took a friend up on her invitation( which she extended more than a year ago) to her Baptist church.
I have allways wanted to attend a real black Baptist church and this was our opportunity.

I can't describe to you in words the energy and the love and the praise in that place !!!!!!!
We imediately felt at home the second we walked in the door.
( actualy, it started before we even got out of our car. There was woman parked across from us jist sititn there starin at us.
She said " praise the Lord He answered our prayer with you two)
And we were treated as family from the front door to the supper table.
( there was a luncheon downstairs followin the service)
We were told that they had a prayer meeting the night before asking God for what they termed "turn around".
And when Janet and i walked thru the door( the only two white faces in the bldg) folks literaly fell to thier knees thankkn God for answered prayer.
It took about 15 minutes for the hugs and handshakes to stop lol
And literaly EVERY person in that place took the time to shake our hands, hug us and genuinely welcome us.

There was nothing 'scheduled' about the service.
The air and the room, were filled with praise and testimony.
They start the service with what they call "set the atmosphere"
Literaly singin and dancin in praise to get people 'fired up'
Believe me, these folks love the Lord sooo much that they don;t need "fired up" .
I must admit that when in a new or different church i am very carefull to make sure that
things are all 'on track' so to speak with Gods' word.
Amidst all the singin and dancin and scripture readin i was very very pleased to see just how Biblicly accurate everything was.
Every utterance in that place was founded solely on GENUINE love and knowledge of, and guidence by, Gods' word.

I have all my life noticed something very different between black folk and white folk.
Black folk truely live life from thier hearts.
We white folk, try as we may, jist can't git it as 'right ' as they do.
There is a very real open honsety towards livin life that they have.
Now, couple that with them livin life this way with God directing thier allready love for life filled hearts and well.....
All i can say is that you jist have to experience this love first hand to have any clue of what i'm talkin about.
They kept tellin us that God had blessed them by sendin Janet and I into thier home of worship, but i gotta say, it was WE that were blessed.
It was truely a family atmosphere. All the while the praise and worship was goin on all the kids ( of all ages)
were wonderin around the room jist doin what kids do and no matter where the child was, if it needed attendin to, who ever it was near,
that person took care of the child as if it were thier own.

If you have never experinced a church service of this nature i URGE you to do so asap.
If the world could experience the unconditional triangle of love between Jesus and fellow humans that Janet and i did yesterday.......
There would be no differences amongst men.
Now, wouldn't that jist put a smile on our Lords' face :D

Oh yeah, one more note.
Yesterday was the first time in my life that i ever ate genuine 'soul food'.
( i have eatin everywhere you can think of from coast to coast)
It was simply Chicken or pork, greens, noodles, or mashed taters or mac and cheese.
Rolls and some kind of drink made of sherbert, lemon ade and i think genger ale.
It was not only delicious, but the most satisfying meal i have ever eaten.

Congratulations! Unfortunately most people attending church today, regardless of denomination, receive that kind of reception. It's a rare occasion, to say the least, to find that kind of love at any church. My church is much like that in that everyone is welcomed and treated like family. It's what Jesus would have us do. Amen.

Yes, you and Jan were blessed, for your experience in the different Baptist church was different to most churches! I've attended Baptist churches most of my life but when I found a true spirit-filled Pentecostal church I was home....very friendly and on fire for Jesus with both their singing, playing music and the absolute true Word of God! They prayed for me at a time I really needed prayed for and I loved the church service so much that I drove two hours plus each way just to attend twice a week, when I could do so! Praise God for His Holy Spirit, Who infills and moves the souls and spirits of His people! I miss going when I couldn't drive that far away and tried other Pentecostal churches but just wasn't the same as the small country churches! I did attend a full-gospel church for several years over in Illinois but got to where I couldn't drive, as I cannot see very well to drive at night and also get way too tired because of my illnessess, and my pastor and his wife retired and don't have their own church any more where the kids were treated like you said! Although I sure do listen and watch the spirit-filled churches on TV....some with the black folks on fire for Jesus! I like Cleflo Dollar ( a black minister) to listen to during his sermons! Amen! Ma Betty

Love it! Sounds a bit like our church...we are actually Southern Baptist, but very spirit filled. VERY different from the stuffy Southern Baptist church I grew up in. Took me awhile to get used to it, but now I couldn't imagine attending anything less!!! Glad you enjoyed your time at church!
