HAHAHAHAHAHA TV shows strike again.......

Wasn't a chance he wanted to share............. I have spoken with this clown since. He's into himself only..

I'm finished trying to negotiate any type hunting terms with this guy.. He stated if he could not have everything found.."It could stay in the ground"

So as far as I am concerned..That is where it will stay.. LOL

I understand , and I don't blame you. Was just stating there are some cercumstances that might go somewhere..

It is easy to talk theory and what if, bottom line I suspect most of us would actually do what you did. Though I've done some pretty dumb things just being the nice guy that I am.
:detecting:

Not really playing the pity card, but I found if my son goes with me to a landowners place to ask permission, they look at him and usually say ok..lol :wiggle: Whatever gets you in the door..,but remember to respect the place, and say thanks afterwards.

Elton, We know how that is all too well. Our club was invited to a very old homestead to metal detect to see if we could find any relics, etc.. We were to drive over 130 miles one way and seems like we had about a dozen people going.

We were all pumped up. We were given a tour of the large historic home (which had many artifacts from it's day) and was offered a cup of coffee which no one took. We were ready to get to get outside and play in the dirt.

We detected most of the day only breaking once to eat our lunches that we had brought with us. We found little items such as square nails, and a few coins. I had a clad quarter with a square nail and the owner snatched them up and stuck them in his pocket. My mouth dropped. Apparently he did this with other members too.

Needless to say, the officers of the club weren't too happy about this. After driving over 260 miles round trip, YES, I said, "over 260 miles" we were pretty upset. Boy were we ever suckered into that one. NEVER again. Never again. It still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. :ranting:

Ive also had a situation where my sons friends grandmother has a huge 1850's brick home on edge of town.. They told her i did metal detecting and she said to have me stop by so i did and we talked about the history and how long she has lived there... She asked if i could help her with some things so i can earn rights to dig in her yard.. I said of course and did some chores and used live catch traps to get some animals tearing things up and fixed porch etc... She then said she didnt want to let anyone dig in her yard.... I said that would have been nice to know before i did all of this work and she said those things needed done and she didnt wanna pay anyone to do it!! (She is very wealthy) i said sure trick me to do it how does that make you feel?? She said better and then walked away End of story I have lost faith in humans for the most part.. Lol i used to be surprised by the behavoir of people but now i im surprised when people are nice lol

We sure were. All of us and it makes me sick to think how much money we all spent on the road trip. I bet there were at least 6-8 vehicles. So sad.

Darn Bass it must be a Northern States thing.... Sorry you got snookered. At least he was out in the open..Just wanted all of everything..and me, and my detector, to find it..Hahahahhaa.

Some people are just so into their selves ............ they just don't see anything else.... any means to an end that benefits them ...

HAHAHAHHA I do think he voted for Obama .................

Nancy, I think you need to send a bill for expenses. I think its 55 cents a mile per vehicle and just go with minimum wage per hour per worker no sense being greedy. :clapping:

That would suck! (Nancy IL) I do however ask for written permission most of the time now,and ask them to write that we are splitting,or me keeping my finds.I have been
un-offered permission a couple of times due to me asking for the written...I just take that as they were not going to be honest, or sharing. Oh and went to a print shop and had a book of 1 day permission slips made out. this makes it much easier..

This can be suited to include/exclude as many things as you deem necessary. Please feel free to save/copy and use for yourself.

And to think he was the one that came to the meeting and asked us to come detect his property. It still leaves a very bad taste in our mouths. :veryangry:

We've never had a "written" slip but have given our information to the land owners on a business card.

That's why those shows are a double edged sword to the hobby.
On one hand, it builds interest, sells equipment, builds membership in clubs.
On the other hand, the huckters and swindlers come out of the wood work.

And just plain thoughtless clods who don't consider consequences only themselves.

Agreed
