We had a real nice day here and I managed my first 3 hour hunt in about 3 weeks. The site was where I had that run in with the deputy a few months back. Back to being one of my favorite spots. Had a great day with tons of curious spectators all of whom were nice as pie and one who gave me two new sites for 2009. A few things to note. I did manage 100 bucks in clad for October but not 100 bucks in rolled coins so my deposit to my MD bank account will be under $100 for the first time since March. I ended September on 10,001 coins and October ended with 10,941 so it is the first month in an even longer period of time with fewer than 1000 coins found.
Onto the best item(s) of the day. I have myself convinced I need a new TV. I decided that when I find a gold ring I'll splurge and get a big flatscreen. That said, I dug every signal including quite a few I would have normally skipped. You should have seen the pile of shit I tossed out. My first keepers were from a coin spill of 3 Canadian coins. A Loonie and two dimes. My first Loonie and my first ever all North of the border coin spill. I say this all the time but it bears repeating. You guys in Canada have my sympathy. It was a messed up signal ranging from foil to half dollar and never steady. 9 days out of 10, I probably would have skipped digging them up. Luckily I found it very early in today's hunt. No gold ring, no new TV.
Two huge milestones reached too. Quarter Total passed 3,000 and Nickel Total passed 1,000 for 2008.

PS I didn't intend that stupid thread I started yesterday to cause that much trouble. My mistake. I was reading my copy of Lost Treasure while doing laundry when I saw the ad I mentioned and it kind of got to me.
