Hammerhead detector - how does it compare?

I'm interested in building Carl's Hammerhead detector. Thought I may try some optimization on it later, like increasing power to the coil and working on the preamp circuit. Haven't dug into its design really.
I searched for Hammerhead on the forum and found (surprisingly) nothing. Wondering if anyone has built it, and how does it compare to the well liked PI detectors?

Everything you need to know about it is at the Geotech Forum. Not sure if Silverdog has any PCB's in stock anymore.....
You may also want to take a look at the Barracuda PI, less complicated and those that are building it feel it's much better
then the base Hammerhead.
