yeah as Chris said ( beat me again ) the date letter is for both gold & silver so carefully look at the style of x & the style of "box" it"s in & this should give you the year it was made .
this is a stunner of a find & i"m very jealous of ya, you should make a new post with with the pic of the ring & a title like "1800s gold ring found" bet you"d get more replies.
