I hope everyone had a blessed day! I heard on the Christian radio station a discussion about celebrating this day as Easter Sunday and about the fertility god, the bunny, colored eggs and etc. Well, I got to thinking, we can and should tell our children about Jesus, Who is God's gift of love to all for repentance of sin and eternal life! If anyone would like to use egg hunts for reminding them of God's love, well, why not tell them that we hide the eggs (especially the plastic ones with money, candy and such) because we love them and want to give good gifts and enjoyment to them just like our Father in Heaven does for us! Every good gift comes from Jehovah God! Then those who find the eggs can be told they are food to put on the table and eat like hardboiled eggs, egg & potato salads and etc. This is how God gives and provides for us what we need in Jesus' love but like the birds, He doesn't throw worms in their nests but they have to go find the hidden bugs and worms....just like the children do when finding the hidden eggs!
Also, the fertility god, means a new beginning, so why not tell them about our One, True God and His new beginning of salvation and His forgiveness of sins for our new beginning in Christ Jesus and have a far better life in His mercy, grace and love! He arose out of the tomb alive and well as a new beginning, for He lives forever more and with our new beginning in Him, as our own personal Savior, we will live forever more by truly believing in Jesus, the Savior of our souls! You see, God can always turn around what satan means for bad and ungodliness (as pagan beliefs) and make it good for us and for His purpose!
The evergreen tree and lights at Christmas time also is for life eternal and the everlasting light of Jesus' love....showing us the way to His eternal glory with joy unspeakable and full of glory!
The days of the week or supposed to be named after pagan gods, but we don't have to worship or honor them but by worshipping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we are showing His love to a dark and lost world, while still letting the children have their fun but in a good and godly way!
