Hard Core Placer Mining

Speaking of winter dredging, I unearthed some older 2006 photos of my brief prospecting time near Fairbanks Alaska. An old acquaintance whom I had known since my military days, invited me to prospect with him on his claim. Fortunately the stream was basically a small creek as we had nothing but a 2” Keene dredge to work with. I wish I had taken more photos but it was such fun that you don’t think about all the hoopla, not to mention it was early October up there and it was on the chilly side. Anyway, here are a few pics of that fabulous day.
 
A golden day on the river. No nuggets but a nice show of some smalls with character. A gold take worthy of a few pics. *Note the gold that lay in the black matting of the sluice. The last photo shows the gold much better in a close-up.
