Hard hat areas.....

Pete in MI

New member
I know hard hat areas (construction sites, sidewalk rebuilding, curb rebuilding) are good places to metal detect.

I know a hard hat area I'm staying out of - for two reasons.

First is that the area I am talking about is our back yard....the dogs (all 3 of em) use it for their bathroom.
That doesn't make it a hard hat area but the 2nd reason does.

Second is that the acorns are falling out of the oak trees (we have one in our back yard)

- the neighbor behind us has several oak trees too - and hitting things with a lot of force. At night when it is quiet and the breeze blows it suddenly sounds like people are shooting at buildings with slingshots and marbles....its just the acorns falling from the trees and hitting sheds, roofs of houses, garages, cars, picnic tables, etc.

Last year I do not recall a single acorn falling anywhere. This year they are everywhere. Year before last they had lots of em and big enough to dent the Pastor's truck hood.

This should make the deer happy...and abundance of food.

Also want to mention that the leaves are starting to change up here.

Not much more detecting time left before the white stuff makes its rounds.

Don't mention the white stuff here!
Acorns are nothing! Try wallnuts! :)

maybe you will have a better year this year.Hmmm did I buy a copy of Farmer's Almanac???? Don't know if I did or didn't now. Wonder what is in store for us according to the FA?

Hey just got me a new place to detect....a house across the street from where I found the Baker's token and measuring spoons (which now belongs to the Latter Day Saints church). The house across the street I thought might have been bought by the church as well. Wrong. A construction company bought it and I talked to the owner who was fixing up the place. He said no problem detecting the place if I didn't mind all the nails and trash from the previous occupants who thoroughly trashed the inside and outside of the house. He did say the house was built in 1950...same year I was born...(and it looks like its in better shape than me  )

Will be checking the yard out soon. Hope I find some silver.
