If any of you are curious to see the dates on wheat pennies that are very mossy and caked on grime like most are I have an easy quick way to clean them. I tried it on one to see if there was any damage and there was none. I have a bench grinder with a very fine brush wheel and I grip the very edge of the coin with vise grips so it's easy to do and put it to the wheel and if you want to clean the entire penny you can then relocate the vise grips. At the same time it actually shines the penny also. I did the10 I found today and they look almost new and the date is very easy to see. without any damage at all. It's amazing how many 1944 pennies were and still are in the ground. Of all the wheats I have found I think 1/3 are 1944.
