Hard work second hunt more luck big silver

So my brother SL-52 and I returned to that steep bank for another try at that silver. We were surprised no silver dimes today, all we got is what we call big silver.

Here is a end of the day picture.

Brother SL-52 is the story teller so I will let him tell you all about it.

Well, we had hunted for about 1&1/2 hours and nothing but total silence and then all of a sudden I got this nice sharp 84 on my screen and just under the surface there she was, a liberty standing quarter, 1919! I strolled over to show Ron and we both started feeling better after seeing the silver.
About 20 minutes later I saw Ron standing below me looking around because he couldn't see me just above him and I could tell he was holding something in his hand (1947 LIBERTY WALKING HALVE DOLLAR). By this time I had found a nice 1958D Washington quarter to go with my 1919 LIBERTY standing which made us 3 big silvers in less than 30 minutes. We were both flying high right about then but then in just about 3 minutes here comes Ron back over again and says bring your detector over here, I want you to get a read on this. I walk over and in the same hole he had just found his halve I got this sharp clean 88 on my F5 screen and I said, that's either a nice silver quarter or a halve that's coming in just a little low, another 1957 silver Washington in the same hole as his halve!
Best day we've ever had metal detecting and all the finds we're in the tough wooded area.

Very nice silver, and four of them in one day:clapping:
Okay, what's up with the ring?
Junk I take it or one of you would have said more about it?

The ring was a pretty nice ring, it was marked either 10k or 14k G F and then I could make out silver something. It looked to have solid silver band with gold on both sides. Also Greg was running high disc so he had to be picking up the silver. That was his first ring find ever. Maybe he can clean the dirt out of the marking on the inside and tell us what it says. hint, hint

That belt buckle was not marked silver but it has all the signs it is silver, it was giving silver area ID numbers on the detector and it came out of the ground looking just like a silver coin. I grabbed a old tooth brush I think and cleaned the dirt off it and it cleaned up just like the 2 coins.

Great finds. You found a spot that went unnoticed by other hunters. Isn't that what we all want ?

The buckle sure looks like silver. No markings on the sides at all ?

I'm really getting cabin fever when I see other people's finds. It's still frozen stiff around here with 3-4 feet of snow covering the ice crust...

That ring is a wedding band according to my wife, she says it's a cheap one that didn't impress her at all. I'm going to stop at the pawn shop on my way to golf course and see what he'll paid me for it, if he says 20$ or more it's gone.
Another note about that liberty standing quarter I found, I looked it up in my 2013 coin book and seen where it's valued at 35$ in good condition. That's a lot more than I was expecting but it's not for sale, it's worth a lot more to me than 35$.

The only marking on the buckle is PAT. APPL'D FOR. I just took a magnet to it and it has a faint pull to it so it has a little iron in it.

According to the 2018 Red book the 1919-P Standing Liberty Quarter in G-4 condition is $25.00 and VG-8 is $35.00
Nice find for sure!
Be sure to do a magnet test on that ring before you get it checked out, if it sticks to a magnet at all then its just junk for sure.

The steep bank has been good for you. Maybe these were also silver that were washed out from above. Nice job on going back to the site and hunting the area more. Great finds! You guys are starting off the year very nicely.

Super hunt and results!

Took that ring to the pawn shop, he said it was 10k with a silver outer band. I asked him what he would give me for it and he said he wasn't interested in it. I put it up in my little trophy drawer for now.

We went back today to the same area for some more big silver.

I think our total for today was something like 5 pennies and brother SL52 got the only wheat penny out of the bunch.

Maybe next time,

Would,'t be a challenge Ron, if we scored big every time out. That's what I think too, "maybe next time." HH jim tn

This was a weird hunt, we got probably about five hits that we we knew we're silver quarters and both Ron's F75 and my F5 locked on and each time we dug it was the same thing( the top of a beer can). It just wasn't our day today.
