Harrison campaign medal

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this. Please direct me to another if not. I am trying to identify an 1840 Harrison campaign medal/token I found with my etrac but can't find the same one online. There are a few different varities of this medal. I have found the same front with BORN FEB 9 1773 (the B in FEB is smaller than the other letters) but can't find the same eagle on the reverse. The only ones I can find with an eagle online have a ribbon under the eagle. Mine doesn't have one. Does anyone have info/book on these kinds of items or maybe someone can do a better google search to identify this varity for me.
Thanks

Can't help on the ID but that sure is a great find, nice.

Hey gang,

First post in this forum... so, "hello" to all from the windy city... I realize this is not an introduction thread, but wanted to say "hello" before posting... :smoke:

Anyway, if you have not had any luck yet in tracing the roots of your find, I had previously researched this token because I pulled the exact same one myself in Nov... (was working an 1840's home).... At any rate, Harrison was promoted to the rank of Maj. General in 1812.... he did not become President until 1840... since the token is honoring him as MG, you can probably safely assume it was struck sometime between 1812-1840... In the description below they spelled his nickname "tippecanoe," but not uncommon within 1800's texts for various spellings to appear... I uploaded a pic of the one I dug so you could see they are identical... Moreover, as you will see in the description below this particular token was labeled "scarce" back in 1862.. so it is quite a find...

Value? you're guess is as good mine... but regardless of it's value it is a unique token and a cool little piece of American history... hope this helps and congrats!

HH

Rocky

Welcome Rocky and thanks for the info. Lets see...$1.00 plus inflation over the next 145 years = well, guess it may be worth a few bucks. I see other varities selling for around $50 to $100 but they are in better condition than mine. Yours is in excellent condition. Very nice find.

Thanks for the other replys also. I'll visit oldpoliticals.com and wazzit forum.
