i was talking to some friends last night up here locally and he claims that after hunting the ocean beach his f-75 11" DD coil was ruined so i was curious and a dumb question these coils are water proof i hope? so i'm just asking do you or know of anyone that has had simalar troubles with this coil doing this?

The type of water ( salt or fresh ) doesn't matter. What happened is that the cover on the back top of the coil leaked a little water onto the coil wires and shorted it out. Make a bunch of crazy noises after that. If he still has it tell him to pry the cover off and dab it dry and let it air out. Should work fine after that. This is exactly what happened to me with mine. If you get one you can use silicone or hot glue around the cover edges for extra insurance. My 2 cents.

G2 was locked into overload mode.......

i went over to my buddies and installed his fisher gold bug and it worked fine.

sent coil in and got a new one back, ran smooth ever since.............about 3 months later, fisher called and said they could not make the coil repeat what had happened, sent the old coil back.
have never tried it.........gave it to the fellow i sold it to...............he has never tried it.

Yes thy are water proof as are most others made today.
But a crack is a crack.
I dunk mine all the time with no problem.
