Has anyone been to the bahamas to detect?

Detected in Man O War Cay. Small Island without any major tourists. It was fun detecting but since the volume of people to 'seed' the beach was not that great just common low number finds. In terms of authorities, flew there from Portland Or. and nobody anywhere was even the slightest bit interested about my detector in the carry on luggage. The only thing I could surmise was it's more common that one thinks and TSA knows what they are on the X-Ray. One would think that with the batteries and wires running around it could look suspicious to TSA. Customs in the Bahamas didn't bat an eye coming or going. However, we were not told, but coming back into the US the US customs folks were nice but very thorough making sure we didn't bring any shells with us, especially any coral of any kind. We were told if the shell had a critter in it and the shell hadn't been boiled and what all, there's a chance of introducing an invasive species to US waters. If you plan to collect sea shells and things like that it'd be a good idea to check clearly what one is allowed to do. Be sure to check how your scoop and detector will fit in your luggage. Many times, with most luggage, things are just a little to long and you don't want to be scramblinb at the last minute trying to get things stuffed to travel. Jim
