HAS ANYONE MADE A SLING FOR THE QUATTRO?

Dave G

New member
I would like to make a sling for my Quattro to help take some of the effort out of swinging it for long periods of time. Has anyone made one or bought one that works well with the Quattro? Pictures would be nice if you have any. Thanks

I hardly buy anything (except detectors) so I made my own sling. Due to the nature of the Quattro's upper shaft I couldnt use a plastic pipe stand off as on my Garretts and Headhunter. So I looked around and found the perfect thing. I went to Home Depot and purchased a bungie that had a rectangulare shape to it. You need to get the longer ones and cut the end off. Then you use the adjustable end so I can be tailored to your size and strap. The plastic loop on the Bungie opening is smaller that the Quattro shaft so you need to bend it to get it on, but it wont break. When it goes on it is very tight and does not walk up the shaft. Break out your travel bag or luggage and take off the strap. You will need a loop to join the strap ends, I used a heavy duty D-Ring. After that you need to get a dog collar snap, open the D-ring and pop the closed end of the dog collar snap into it. Snap the dog collar clasp onto the loop on the bungie. You are now ready to put it on and adjust it. After that you are ready to go. All the same advantages of the commercial units but you made it. If you like it good luck mine works great.

Hello Dave....the Swingy Thingy really works. I sell quite a few of them to Explorer and Quattro users, especially when they add a larger coil like the WOT.

Had the same problem with weight for a while, till I got use to it. I don't have a sling, but I've become ambidextrous. I tend to favour my right arm, so sometimes I start detecting with my left. Detecting uphill can be a pain.
