I use a 13 on my se pro, and get good results with it, Im looking for a bigger coil for my T2Se, Not sure if I should get a 12 x 15 sef , or the Ultimate. I know some guys here get good results with the sef, just curious if anyone has used the 13". I like the thought of a lighter coil. Thanks in advance!
Get the Ultimate fella, got one on my T2se its not much heavier than the stock coil. The SEF coil weighs a ton. The ultimate gives me about an extra 5" of depth whilst still being sensitive to small items like air rifle pellets. Honestly its THE best combo.
Terry.
I use both the 12x10 and 15x12 SEF coils but mainly for deep pasture use, infact i prefer the larger SEF than the samller one,it certainly is deep no question about that but can be seen as a little on the heavy side but it certainly is the coil for large areas of pasture or for getting down below the plough line when target start to dry up.
The 12x10SEF and the Ultimate coil are i would think very similar in performance and certainly make the T2 smoother to run and a direct replacement for the stock coil,i feel the stock is the weakest link with the T2 as over the years it always has been the item that has caused more trouble reliabilty wise than any other major component.
Build quality of Detech coils is far superior in every aspect over the stock coil, the main things being the cable and cable plug into the control box,all much higher quality and these are some of the areas that let the stock coil down.
I will also add a comment about a new coil that i am using and that is the NEL Sharpshooter coil which is a 9.5''x5.5'' coil and in the last month or so this has become my main stock coil over all the others, its very light, sharp as a lasor beam on small item and fantastic in junky condition with great target seperation, and will admit that when i go out with the T2 this is my favourite coil,it may lack a little depth over the stock coil but if you increase the sens and decrease your disc it will go deeper for sure.Only down side that i can see with this NEL coil is although i said build quality is superb and yes it is,its let down by a cheap and tacky stick on label that started to peel off after 30 minutes or so,but after removing the label it does no longer bother me.
From observations the most popular combination for the T2 over here in the UK is without doubt the Ultimate coil.
I use both. The 15"/12" SEF coil on my T2se is the deepest most sensitive set up I have ever used. I do use the 13" ultimate coil occasionally it's way lighter & all most as deep. HH
I just got a T2 and think I will like it, but the verdict is still out on it. I only have about 5 hours out with it. I have been hunting a little ghost town on the TN river. Some really deep stuff due to the silt from flooding in years past and many of the fields have been turned. Lots of flat buttons, thimbles, assorted relics and quiet a few scattered CW relics. Felt I needed more depth than the G2 offered as many of the finds were just barely in range of the G2 (light signals that really had me scrubbing the ground). Also the worst coin drought I have ever been on and much of what I am hunting is virgin ground. Done tons of reading on T2 settings and have probably been running a little to hot, but it does seem less stable than detectors I have used in the past. So NOW the question........... is the 13 inch coil less stable and is it a really noticeable increase in depth or mainly just covering more ground?
Note: I was shocked at the depth the 5 inch coil gave me in the test garden. An 8 inch dime boomed in 2+ and in boost I could raise the coil 4 or 5 inches before loosing it. Settings on sensitivity were not cranked past what I have found to be fairly stable. The little coil should be awesome not only in trash, but the thick undergrowth I often run into.
