And thank you for your kind words.All the cops have left,the search has been called off for the fugitive.If he is still in the area he is holed up pretty good.Now that the police are gone a few of the local "good ole boys" hillbillys will probably commence to huntin' him.If they catch him.....he will probably wish he had surrendered to the police! <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock"> <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock"> <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock"> <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock">

to the store for a few groceries today and while I was waiting in line I overheard an old fella talking to the gal at the register. He was telling about the depression and how a person could get a weeks food for 5 dollars.
She spoke with an accent and when I got up there I told her that when I was growing up we used an outhouse and pumped our water outside. I grew up in a basement house and you know what? I didn't feel deprived at all. Most of our friends were in the same situation.
I asked her where she grew up and she said India. She said she was depressed because all she does is work. She works two jobs. I told her that she has it better than most people in her country. She said that she did not feel the poverty over there because her family, who must have been of a higher class, protected her and she didn't see the poverty.
She said that when she has gone back home she sees how little the average person has, compared to this country.
I told her that I worked for 42 years at GM and worked one hell of a lot of overtime. That is just the way it is.
I also told her that my worse day is much better than the best day for many of the people of the world. She agreed.
We have so much but we have nothing to be ashamed of. We worked for it. She is over here and she is working. That is much better than most of her countrymen have it. With the caste system over there the poor are not allowed to get out of their rut.
We have it good.

We all need that once in a while just to remind us of how we are blessed.
All the best
M

We sometimes forget how fortunate we are! I think that this is the best poem you have ever written. Thanks for sharing it. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
