It was found in an area along with some old coins 1890s, some wheats, 1917 coin. It seem like it was homemade and it is gold.

Can you post a closer picture. Maybe a side pic as well.

I can't imagine someone would make a ring out of a gold coin? How do you know it's gold? acid tested? hhmmmmm.

I've seen lots of gold coins made into rings, by Spooning them, remember, gold was only $20.00 an oz a few years ago. Grubstake

I found it in a small area where I found wheat cents, a 1917 coin, 1890 V nickle, and a lead spoon all in a fresh water lake.

yes boys and girls way back in the 1970s gold was 20-30 bucks and once gold rings worth 45-75 bills and HEMI ROAD RUNNERS 800-1200 BUCKS I KNOW I HAD 2 AND COULN'T EVEN SELL THEM BECAUSE INS. RATES WERE SO HIGH FOR A YOUNG DRIVER

My grandfather, made there wedding rings from $5 gold coins, he put a very small hole in the center of the coins, and put them on a 6 penny nail, he use spoons to beat on the rim of the coin, turning it as he did it, it took hours, and hours, but he made two rings like that, He died in 77 and my grandmother died 5 years later, My uncle has the rings. Grubstake

I think that you maybe right grubstake. There are impressions around the inside diameter of the ring. It is small enough to be a ladies ring.

Back in the early 1900's Spooning as it was called was commond. Gold was cheap. unless it was mad into rings or jewelry. They also did it with silver coins. Grubstake
