other than being wireless ,cannot see any difference from the other top detectors???:shrug:has average depth, nothing outstanding or am i missing something:look:

Well you just have to sell your house and find out, what makes the Deus so good.

Yes, you are missing a lot. It is suprelight, fully wireless, you do not have to spend money on batteries for some 2 years, you have a solid rock ID, you can change frequencies, you can use detector in different configurations, it does not look like a metal detector, which is sometimes handy, you can update software by USB port etc.

Well, from what I can see, most of the XP Deus owners are also owners of some of the top machines on the market today. That's an indication itself how good the Deus is. I myself, have an E-Trac. I did not jump right in to buying the Deus. I waited to see the feedback, read the field reports, read the manual, and tried to collect as much comparative information as possible (just like everyone else does). It was enough to convince me that the Deus has the technology to help me increase my finds in the conditions that I hunt in. Now, the real test will be when I do some head to head comparisons with my Trac and see how the Deus handles the red clay here in Virginia and the heavy trash.

CJ....you're not reading the mail....

I love my E-Trac....King of the salt-wet-sand.

My Whites V3 is a 'techy's dream machine.

The DEUS.....The GODROD.(copyright title)....designed and made by Alain Loubet, a detectorist who is also an experienced, innovative electronics engineer.

Detecting is his passion.....Not riding motorbikes......playing guitars..... etc.

CJ....Today, I was out for several hours testing a new UK detector, produced to mimic the XP Goldmax......ably assisted by a friend with his Deus

If only you were there to HEAR the Deus speak......and compare it to ANY other detector on the market,....over the same target....which I've been fortunate to do for over two years now, with that friend's Deus, then you would not be making naive comments.

It is the finest field machine IN THE WORLD.....excellent even on damp sand....and other complex ground conditions.

It does not do 'under-water' detecting, in its standard configuration (antenna required)......because it's a radio device......using mobile phone technology.

Don't sell your E-Trac or V3 etc but keep them for use on/in the 'foam'.

To detect with a DEUS is on a par with dancing with a beautiful ballerina.

So cue the violins, lights, and enjoy the sounds of the 'Nut Cracker Suite'..

.....................................................for the Deus truly is cracking the nuts of most other present day detectors.

SAVE ON BATTERIES,NOT HEAVY THATS A PLUS,BUT THE DEPTH IS # 1 AND I CANNOT SEE ANYONE MAKING ANY COMMENTS ON IT?WHATS THE PRICE?

If you think about it, it's not that much more then an E-Trac and after you buy a good set of headphones, it gets even closer. Mine should arrive next week and I cannot wait. Yesterday, I was out with my E-Trac trudging through the woods and I do not know how many times my headphone and coil wires got caught up in the tree limps and underbrush. It was annoying. Problem solved. Think about trying to dig a hole with the headphones pulling on your head all the time. Problem solved. Think about those long hunts and how physically draining it is to swing the E-Trac all day. Problem solved. Personally, even if the Deus gets the same depth as the E-Trac, I think the other benefits are well worth the extra money. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my Trac and will continue to use it, but it will most likely be used in a different fashion now, i.e., shorter hunts or where conditions favor it.

I dig plenty of deep targets with the Deus. It has superb audio quality. Sorry your house is only worth a couple of grand. I guess the housing market really sucks where you live.

I have tried a number of other top end machines on same test coin and a few will hit and ID correctly but more will not.Not much good getting 12" on a dime if it IDs as iron at the 9" mark now is their????

I've been to primitive campgrounds that have these things. Really disgusting. Rather go in the woods.

Now, getting back to the Deus. You have people who value quality and innovative products and are willing to spend a few extra bucks and you have people who cannot afford them, so they bash it to justify why they cannot afford it. If you cannot afford one, just admit it and move on.

Here's the way I see it! Alot of jewelry falls in the foil and pulltab range.
That's a given !

If you don't dig this those areas you are going to miss targets. The more
you dig ... the greater the finds.

It does not make any sense to me to buy a high end machine just because
it's wireless and has a James Bond look-apeal.

I already purchased the high end machines - been there, done that and
find there are many mid range detectors that will stand up to many of
the high end gadets.

It's cool but not necessarly going to make anyone a dectecting
magician.

No one - including XP themselves - is claiming tha that the Dues will make all other detectors obselete. It was designed to offer features and capabiliites not found on a single detector before and provide it in a light weight, durable package that can be updated via the Internet. If you are happy with the results of your (XXXXXXX) detector - fill in the blank with whatver you are using - then by all means stick with what works . . . . . . . I have a good friend that still uses a Teknectics Mark I and consistently brings home super finds because he knows that detector better than anytging else you could put in his hands.

If the Deus catches your attention, try to lay eyes on it and see it it matches up with your hunting preferences . . . .

As far as having to sell your house to afford one . . . look at home many GPX detectors Minelab sells at more than twice the price of the Deus . . . . . if it does what you want a detector to do, the price is justifiable.

as" mr. sabisch" so eloquently points out,if it works for you, then
it's worth it! may i be so bold to also point out, that many other detectors
will work for you too,and a ''TON"' of them are priced far lower than
$2,000.00 just a little something to think about!..just sayin''

(h.h.!)

Don't recall a rash of posts complaining about the ever increasing price of the GPX detectors or other high end detectors here nor the cost of US built detectors overseas . . . . . last check, the White's V3i was selling for just over $2,200 in the UK while the Deus is selling for just under $2,000 when you convert back to dollars . . . . . even a new Teknetics T2 LTD is selling for over $1400 at dealers and the GPX 5000 with the VAT included will set users back just shy of $6,500 yet they all seem to sell as there are users that find that they offer what they want and while there are less expensive models, it all comes down to what one wants and what one is willing to invest.

As far as the Deus, as others have said in various threads, it has been out for more than 2 years overseas yet there are very few that come up on the secondary market and when they do, they hold tehir value and are snapped up quickly . . . . . when I was in Europe last summer, one guy had one and his partners were on a waiting list that was over 2 months long to get theirs . . . .

I have friends that are avid bass fishermen and they have more in their boat, motor, trailer and gear than I have probably spent in 45+ years of buying metal detecting / treasure hunting gear and the best thing they will ever being home is a big fish

Use what works for you . . . . . . there's a reason why several posters here have a pile of current detectors listed as being in their arsenal . . . . each has its niche and earned its place for a myriad of reasons . . . .

"Just sayin"
