Have you noticed that the newer coins will not last long in the ground!

I went out today and dug a whole bunch of coins, I noticed that the newer coins look real bad and they have only been in the ground for at the most one to two years. The coins that are dated from the 60's and older clean up real well, evan after being in the ground for 30 + years, but the newer ones from late 1980's to present look like they are about to come a part.

People metal detecting 30 years from now will be wondering what happen to the coins from the 1990's on, they will think that we must have some how found a way to quit loosing our coins, because all of the coins from that era will desolve in the ground.

The reason is in the latter part of 1982 they changed from the copper penny to the copper coated zinc penny. Now the coating is not that thick, so once the Ground eats a little thought the copper it get to the zinc and starts eating it up, sometime all you will find is the outer shell or parts of it. It also will start reading lower on a Target ID detector too.
Now the clad dime, quarters and nickles are still the same since 1965 as that was the first year of the clad.
It is a shame our pennies are getting so bad for the future generation but wont have to worry about the headache of digging those new pennies we have now and spend their dime digging coins worth a little more.

What about the Sask. Dollar...found two in the grass one wonders if they stop hoarding and they sink in the dirt what they will look like...Both hadn't even start to sink and were beat..
