hay Lou what happend to your last post

Hi boys,

Yeah I noticed the thread was pulled last night so I sent this to support.

Subject: Oz gold sales.
Message: Hi guys, this thread that I started has been pulled. Why?

Reply: We have no idea what the heck your talking about.
With thousands of post a week, just how would we know without a better explain. From you.
Thank you.
Support team.

Granted that thousands of posts are made per week but only one thread called "Oz gold sales" started by " Lou from downunder".
Would'nt have thought it would be so difficult to figure out.
Never mind, not worth the hassle.

Getting back to selling some gold......
Last night on the "Gold processing forum" I found a post by a jewelry wholesaler in Sydney who seems keen to buy at a good price and with a fair setup, so I emailed him. He's emailed back with his phone number. Will call him tomorrow and see what he's offering exactly.
If it sounds ok I'll let you all know.
In the meantime, check out this gold processing forum, its not necessarily your thing, but there is hours of interesting reading on it.

Lou.

that sucks mate
hope the gold sales work out for ya & let us know how you go  it would be nice to have a reliable place to sell gold over here.

You just don't get it. When you take the time to come in with a complaint, is it too much to ask if you would supply basic information ? The support group that you contacted handles mainly connection issues. The forum moderators, and the administrators take care of the day to day stuff.

I was the one that removed your post. As I recall it had a link to a commercial, non sponsor site. That's not allowed, the owner says no. It's a discretionary move on my part, and I dumped it.

Thank you Freddie for taking the time to point out that I am an idiot.

Clearly my first mistake was to assume that support staff handled these matters, I promise not to make this mistake again.

My second mistake was assuming that support staff had the necessary intelligence to handle my inquiry without over elaboration on my part, wont be making that mistake again either.

Third mistake was assuming that any posts I make would be moderated in a fair and equitable manner, if I was to inadvertently stray from posting rules.

For making this veritable plethora of idiotic mistakes...... please accept my apologies.

Getting back to your reason for terminating a two page post, with much information, including the dangers posed to children on a certain beach for an alleged breach of posting rules:...

You state....."As I recall it had a link to a commercial, non sponsored site. That's not allowed, the owner says no. Its a discretionary move on my part, and I dumped it."

As I recall, I posted no "links" to any sites as I lack the necessary computer skills to do so.
I also recall that when others have posted offending links, only the link is scrubbed, not the whole thread.
As I recall I mentioned some Australian gold refineries and " The gold refining forum".

As Midwest Refineries is not a forum sponsor and is regularly mentioned here clearly its not the reference to refineries that has raised your ire.
The "gold refining forum", whilst a non sponsored site is however a "non commercial enterprise", but one where members pass there knowledge on freely. Any attempt at commercial gain through this forum results in instant removal of offending posts.
But I'm sure you took the time to ascertain this for yourself.

So please, could you find the time to humour this old idiot and clarify just which part of my contributions so offended your good self that you felt it necessary to delete the entire thread?

Thank you.

Lou.

Ok,

now lets get back to business.

I rang the jewelry wholesaler in Sydney today and found him to be an easy person to talk to. He is however a business man and tried maybe a little too hard to convince me that he was the "way".

In a nutshell...... he pays approx $4.00 per gram less for each carat.
Eg. Today at midday gold price in Au$ for 1 gram 9 carat approx $14.47. His price $10.35.
Price at midday for 1 gram 18 ct approx $28.94. His price $24.70.

He has some you beaut hand held gold tester that allows him to ascertain the carat rating of whatever you have on the spot.
He has full confidence in this apparatus and will pay you immediately.

He's not that fussed on silver and unless you have kilos his price is fairly low, silver coins he's not interested in at all.

He also told me that if you were a buyer of gold yourself, and therefore bringing in larger lots and regularly then he was prepared to pay more, however how much more was not discussed at this stage.

Also recieved a reply to my email from Peter W Becks in SA today.
Basically its a similar setup to SBA and probably everyone else.
They all sound good but can they be trusted not to get into you? Thats the $64,000.00 question.
Me? I think I'll hang onto my stuff for the time being and look seriously into refining my own. Problem is SBA told me that even if I do this and I bring in 99.5% gold they will still refine it, charge me fees and on the way probably still find an excuse to justify 10% going missing!

Lou.

that sounds like a great deal Lou especially if he"s buying in ring form so there's no gold lost in refining  also the big E is a great place to sell large lots of silver i don't know about coins though.
if you do get a that refining unit will it do silver ?? i"d like to get some turned into bars.
do you know anyone with a good second hand 3XL wetsuit i"v been looking on the net but cant find any i"v heard there quite hard to get secondhand if ya do give me a PM .
thanks
lazyaussie

G'day Lazy,

great deal? hmm.... I've been doing my sums and have decided that even if I'm ripped off 10% after refining fees etc I might still be better off with a refinery. Waiting with bated breath to see how that other guy goes with SBA.

That refining unit does not do silver, however home refining of silver is evidently quite a simple process, its explained on the same site as the one selling the refining unit. I'd post the name of the seller here, but just a bit worried about getting my arse kicked again.

As for a wetsuit..... forget second hand mate.
I've got a friend whose sole Australian distributor of a big name brand of dive gear.
He sells factory direct to the chosen few, which includes anyone I send down. His prices are exactly half of what you would pay in a dive shop, cause dive shops have 100% markup on all their goods. His factory is in Carrum Downs.
If you can get a suit for half of what someone else has paid for it, its not worth buying. Probably smell as bad as my suits!
This offer extends to all Vic detectorists, just PM me for his details.

Lou.
