Headhunter Pi in Florida report

will be coming soon! I want to have enough hours in with it to make an educated estimation.BUT I can tell you right now-IT IS EVERYTHING MR.BILL SAID IT WAS !! I LOVE IT!

Well, I have 19 hours on my hh pi now.In the wet sand NOTHING I have ever used comes close to it! It will hit a large mans gold ring at 13"- 14" deep-clearly.A small ladies engagement ring at 9" - 11" In my area the Mod.Surfmaster pi did a little over 1/2 that! The other pi machines tested=Seahunter MK II,Sandshark and cs6 pi were even less. This is a very lightweight machine and the headset is comfortable and stays put easily.** Thats the WET sand.IN the water the hhpi I have will not work, I had to send it back for repair yesterday,I will post Part 2 of my report when I get it back, hopefully Detectorpro will be quick at solving the problem and send it back to me by a faster than normal shipping method[as the unit was originally 2 day air as part of the deal I paid for] I will keep everyone informed.I posted now because I have been answering so many individual questions via emails[ not a problem, but I thought this would be easier for us all ] I really believe that when I get it back, I will be as happy in the water as I am out! For now, we wait.

Hi Chuck,
When you say the HH PI did not work in the water, at what water depth were you using it and what was the problem?
Eric.

I was in 3-4 feet of water and no matter what I did, even if I held the coil still on the bottom, I got a loud rising thresholdlike sound that peaked and went away every 4-5 seconds and lasted 3 seconds.I tried every reasonable adjustment and the only thing that worked was to turn the frequency down so far that My cz7 beat the hhpi on depth on a small gold ring. After getting the freq.set low enough so that the sound wave became tolerable I took it up on the wet sand ad compared it to my cz7.On wet sand I can run at 15us and about 1/2 tune.I dug many items on wet salt sand at over a foot easy.In the water it wont work.It is on it's way back to Detectorpro now. What do you think? Is this just a problem with my unit or is that the way the hhpi will work in S.W. Florida? No other pi detector i've used ever did that.I used it at 4 different beaches over a 45 mile range-same result. Thanks for considering this Eric.

Hi Chuck,
Something amiss here. Sounds like an electronic malfunction. No PI should behave like that when put in the water. Was the headphone unit getting wet, or still well out of the water? Do I understand that when you took it out of the water and up on the sand, it worked OK again?
Eric.

Itook it back out of the water it worked fine. The headset has never touched water so far.One other thing I noticed just before I sent it back in was that if you pushed the coil wire protector a little to the side,[ bent the rubber slightly ] it made the same noise.

have it recalibrated. I have not been to the beach since I got it back so I can't say if it will act differently. It worked outstanding on the wet sand but it was a booger bear in the surf. Chuck if you get there before I do please let us know the results. Thanks

thats going to be the way they all are and that the solution at the factory will be to recalibrate it away from 15us to keep it quiet.Thats not a solution, it would take what value the hhpi has on the wet sand away from it= no deep small gold! I'm hoping for better!

Come on Jim, your leaving out a little bit of the story. Chucks problem is not even close to what your problem was.
Three (3) units got shipped to Phil by accident before being calibrated. This was picked up on by the manufacture, and the dealer was called, and asked to return all the units. He didn

Chuck,
Way too much mis-information being hashed over. Yes you certainly have a problem, but it

I read it and understood it.I will be looking forward to getting my unit back in proper working order as soon as is reasonably possible.I hope that Detectorpro will ship it via a faster method than Ground ups.I am anxious to use my new detector! Thanks for your help.
