I have read the post about modifying the jack or adaptor so that it will allow other headphones to be used in the 3030. I have asked in both a Radio Shack and a stereo store if they sold the mono to stereo jacks and was told they do not have them. I was wondering if anyone has rigged their detectors with a 1/4" jack to an 1/8" jack so that ear buds could be used instead of headphones. Thanks for your help.

Yup; Just as you said. Did it about a month ago. works fine. So much more comfortable and low profile than the headphones!
