Headphone Wire Cracking Open... Any Thoughts?

The outside black wire that attaches almost immediately to the headphone is completely cracked open and the inside white wire is cracked and showing copper. Any thoughts on how to repair this before it gets worse?
The headphones look to be sealed up firmly. Never took any apart before.
I do hunt salt water. Thanks!

Wish I could help looks like a difficult repair, hopefully someone will give yo some expert advice. Good Luck Ron

Get an ikelite connector...cut the one off. Then reconnect the wires (solder and crimp connector with RTV)to the old one. Really pretty easy fix
