Headphones...any diff.?

Ever since my first set of loud earphones, I have always used the Garrett phones with volume control. Reasonably priced also......Coach C

For those who ask, you've already been given the link, and here's some additional palaver.

I've never liked the kind of headset which completely encloses the ear. And, the darn cords are always a pain, so that's why I started looking for something different. I just happened to be in Radio Shack to pick up a Molex connector, and ask what they had in wireless headsets. You see the result.

My first impression was not all that good. They hang as it were from the ear, and the band is in back. That part is great for me, as I wear an Aussie Outback hat to help protect my red-headed, white skin! However, positioning them to a comfortable position takes a few tries, and not everyone will like the way they hang. I've been using them for several months, and I've gotten used to the feel. Since they don't fit tight, you can still hear outside sounds. The volume is more than adequate, and can be almost deafening if turned all the way up. So you guys with diminished hearing shouldn't have any problems on that score.

You can charge them with a standard cellphone charger with the appropriate plug. In my case, it's the same one I used to charge my Bluetooth headset, but yours might be different.

have you guys considered earbuds?

im assuming the jack on these detectors if your standard 3.5mm or 1/8"?

i think the earbuds would offer better isolation

thoughts?

Gday,

Summer gets very hot here and I often use volume control earbuds with soft, wrap around flexible grips which fit over the top part of the ear and once on, dont fall off ( I think they call them sports grips , and are were first made for runners and athletes )
They allow you to wear a big broad brimmed hat and you are not as detached from the noises of the world .

Having said that ...I still love my Gray Ghosts - the sound quality is much better, one can get into "the zone" more easily ...I wear them whenever cooler weather comes along.
I find that if it is very windy the enclosed headphones are best as they block out the wind noise and allow you hear the signals.

HAPPY DETECTING.

I'm new to the hobby. I'm getting the equipment for this Spring / Summer.
I got both the ear buds and 'traditional' headphones. I'm not sure which I'll prefer but I assume there will be advantages to each set.

The jack needed for the ACE 250 is 1/4 but there is an adapter available at any 'electronic' store ...that will make any headphones work with the detector.

The Koss volume - controlled headphones from Wal-Mart are working fine for me with my Ace 250. All in all, cost me $19.25.

BTW - I LOVE my new Garrett Pro-Pointer! [and my (Ames) Tru-Temper "Garden Buddy" digging/trowel tool from Lowe's Home Improvement].

And of course I love my Black Labrador Retriever "Sheena" (had to write that - she's sitting right next to me and is reading my post).

Got myself a pair of Pro Gold from De Marco Detector sales a find mall sponsor.
Great price on quality headphones !

I got a cheapie (I think Koss) with volume control for my Ace in the summertime. In the winter, you can't beat a set that fully covers the ears (with volume control).

It may be just me but ear buds keep falling out as I swing the tector. I'm still thinking about the post where the guy put a volume control on his Ace. Next time I'm near a Radio Shack I'll check out what's available.
