Headphones for Nokta Fors Relic

I think there might be a problem with the socket and possibly the machine also. I just got the detector Friday from Kellyco. I noticed that when I turned the detector on, sometimes the numbers on the small display would show when I passed it over a target laying on the floor. It started working when I pulled the pinpointed button. I don't know if you should have to do that every time you turn it on. It looks like it is going back to Kellyco.
 
yep hang in there till Nokta get back to work Monday and sure they will help you out or kellyco either way doesn't sound right :lmfao: get it oh dear well at least I think I am funny, but really I have no idea about the pinpoint button thing, but theres something going on with the ph socket so if your not that way inclined to have a look , which I would but that's me.

from what I have seen its no dramas with Nokta swapping or fixing.

Were you inside when going over a target on the floor?
Must be tested outside. Too many wires and nails inside.
When you turn it on the coil should be off the ground.
Then ground balance with the GB button.
Are you pushing the pinpoint button or the GB button?
Also, when you push the pinpoint button the numbers are the depth of the target.
Only GB in an area with no metal.
Better yet explain what you're doing, where you are doing it, and how you are doing it along with which specific buttons you're pushing.
Anything that the display is saying as well I'd it looks weird.
Also there is an alarm for overload when you're too close to things and you have to raise the coil up.
 
Please list what you meant with the numbers and the going over the target and what happened more specifically.

The PP button will display the depth of the target when engaged. Otherwise, when hunting, you wont get a number until you go over a target then you get the VDI#. Do it all outside away from the house if possible.

When I turned the machine on and went over a target no numbers were displayed just a little up screen. Only until I pulled the pinpointeright and let go just like you would when you go from the menu screen would it start displaying numbers. It doesn't do it all the time. Sometimes I can turn it on and as soon as it goes over a target the numbers are displayed.

Hmmm. Well all I can think is that the coil was near metal when turning on.
If not, just always have coil up when turning on. Also it takes a second or 3 for the machine to boot up. On the big screen it's ready when the fors relic sign is gone.
But since you said it isn't all the time I'm leaning towards the coil being near metal when you booted it up and it masked out your target, then when you pushed the pinpoint button, it read the metal and depth because no matter what you mask out, in pinpoint it becomes an all metal no motion detector.
I would say just remember to have the coil up when you boot it up, makes sure to find an area with no metal after and do an auto ground balance, then you should be good to go.
Sorry if I'm wrong, but I would need step by step on what you did, how you did it type info to be sure.

I would also say that if it stops doing it after you push the pinpoint button, then again I would say the coil was near something when booting.

Double check your handle plug.
I know it sounds dumb, but mine is weird and the nut that you screw in likes to go sideways a bit and feel tight.
You may not have a good connection there.
Just trying to cover all the bases.
 
Well after messing around with the machine some more and checking the Killer Bees on the other detectors, I do believe the headphones have a short in them. It has to be a certain way to short it out, but I believe that is the problem. I did take the Fors Relic outside and the numbers would always show up. Maybe I had to much interference inside. I did try it again inside and it never did have a blank screen. Oh well. The Deteknix headphones seem to work very well with it. Thanks again everyone for the help.
 
Yeah its a crap shoot inside. Sometimes it will still work but work give reliable air test numbers.
Glad to hear you isolated the problem and your relic is in working condition.
That would suck to have to send that back. I love mine.
If you haven't already, give the manual a really good read.
When I was waiting for mine, I downloaded it off of the kellyco website and read it many times. Lots of good info in there like how to save your changes you make in case there's a way you want it to boot up so you aren't always changing things every time.
 
Well it turns it there is something going on with the handle display. It started blanking out again this morning. I was outside away from any metal. It didn't matter what I did, the display on the handle never would display any numbers just a backlight when it went over a target. I talked to Kellyco and it is going to be returned for another Fors Relic. Hopefully I'll have better luck this next time around.

Sorry to hear but glad to hear they are remedying the situation.
I'm surprised they aren't just sending the handle out and replacing that.
The shipping time will suck a bit, but at least your new unit will be there and hopefully fully functioning.
 
My killer B's work fine on my Relic and Racer 2 it I experience the same problem you describe when using my TDK WR700's and did with them on my original Racer as well.
 
so I was right 1st off and that's what it sounded like a wire about to brake or broke. those cables brake its just how it is.

Yes you were right about the headphones having a short. But when I tried them on the other machines, they worked fine because it didn't put the cord in the same position as the Fors Relic. As for the machine, it was still defective so it went back to Kellyco to be replaced.
 
wow double bunger that's no fun !! at least you are getting it sorted and should have years of trouble free detecting ahead that's the good news for the future :biggrin:

not much fun when its happening though.
