Headphones for t2 question

2 Much Trash

Well-known member
I have 2 pair of headphones that I've used for years on quite a few detectors. They are both the same brand but I've been using them so long the labels are gone. Luck would have it both stopped working within a month of one another. So I ordered a nice well known fairly expensive pair, 150 ohms, etc. thought these would be the cats meow. But the audio pitch on these headphones is way to high for me. Sounds like a yellow jacket flying past my ear. So my question before dropping more coins on another set, tell me what I'm looking for in headphones that may have a lower audio pitch using them on the t2. 50 ohms, 150 ohms, what frequency, etc.
Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill, I repair and build a set of headphones from time to time. A hobby that I enjoy doing and a way to give back alittle for all the good I get out of the forums. Don't know what I would do without detecting forums during the cold winter months. They are getting harder to find but I like using 600 ohm speakers, they are nice & mellow sounding. I would be happy to have a look at your phones that are not working and see if I can fix them for you. I only ask payment for return shipping and parts if needed. If people want to give me a few bucks that is fine but if not that is fine as I do not charge any labor. If you are fond of your phones and if I can help bring them back to life just say the word. Steve

I use the Gray Ghost Ultimates with my T2 and really like them. I had a set of Killer Bees but they felt like a vise on my head.

Comfortable, clean crisp sound and they block external noise well.

Bill the lowest audio pitch Ive heard in phones are the ratphones.....but thats to low for me.

I use the Gray Ghost NDT.

I use the GG NDT's as well and they are sweet sounding headphones. I tried Killer bees once and they sounded "buzzy" to me.

i make my own 8 ohm mylar cones in good ear defender cases ,heavy duty 5mtr curly leads and right angled plug at the detector end ,i have a pair on e/bay uk going through tomorrow .the tonal response is more than adequate for the T2 ,i found that you only need higher frequency for 2 tone detectors .
