Headphones with built in amplifiers and filters. - any thoughts on these ?

I have been recently been thinking about designing some headphone's with a built in audio amplifier and maybe some switchable tone filters to try and improve the depth of my SE and get some different sounds!. Just an idea that i might get round to doing for fun sometime. I once heard of headphones that give extra depth a few years ago these had built in amplifiers , it got me thinking why not incorporate super booster amps into the phones!

Have you tried experimenting with any of the audio options on your Explorer? Some guys use the optional audio settings and claim to get deeper targets. I played around a little once, but I thought I had R2D2 in my ear so I switched back to normal.
