Headphones?

Welcome Don (minas man) Very glad to have you posting on the forum with us! May God bless you with just the right headphones to go with your detector and may you find many places to hunt and find lots of nice goodies! We have two more on the forum from Nova Scotia, I think! Leslie and Happy Harold, so one more is a charm! ;) :) :angel: Betty
 
Hope you like the forum and the people here. Certainly the less expensive headphones work fine. Dual volume is a very good thing to have as you can tune it to your hearing. The better quality headphones last longer, have a lifetime warrenty, and they have better sound as they close out the outside noises better.
I am a big fan of Gray Ghosts, and looking down the posts so are many others. I also know when I go on the big Civil War digs with as many as 200 people most have them also. If you are kinda new to the hobby, get the less expensive ones and wait to get a chance to try others out.
Did ya know we have two other fellas here from Nova Scotia Aye?

Don, Glad you have joined us here on the forum. I'm sure you will be blessed! I liked the headphones I had with a detector I just traded in and am now looking for headphones for the new detector. Looks like I will probably go with the Gray Ghost originals since they seem to get the most votes here. It will be a few days before I make the final decision though.

I got a pair of cheapie Cal-Rads with my machine (freebie). The do work and I find more with them than without. I am going to upgrade, but to what I do not know yet. I kinda like the look of the Rattlers. It seems that the high impedence head phones are more well thought of. I have also read several posts that speak well of the Koss UR 30s that G4E has and that is the unit sold by MineLab. Therefore I have also got consider that pair.

Welcome to the forum Don and may God bless your hunts! You can't go wrong with DetectorPro Gray Ghost Originals or Black Widows. Both are as good as it gets!
 
I added an inline volume control to my Koss UR-30's since my Troy Shadow X-3 does not have a volume control. They are very comfortable and have a great sound as far as I am concerned. I got them originally with my Minelab Explorer and kept them when I sold it.

To compare the sound of Killer B's, Grey Ghost and Sunray is a little silly.
They use the same speakers. I would look more at features you need, cup size and price.
Minelab machines tend to be lower in volume with a soft sine wave sound. No limiter needed.
The signal never reaches the limit point.
If you have a loud machine, the limiter is often placed after the volume control,
that is not good and will burn out your volume control eventually.
Dual volume may not be needed unless your ears need them, but splits the current stress on the control.
The harsh mid range tin can sound of such phones may not be noticeable on your machine so give them a try.
But I'd rather use a wider frequency response myself. Maybe Troy's.
The new "simulated leather" type cushions that came out the last couple years are nice at first, but the glue comes loose and more expensive to replace.
I'd go for the smooth vinyl type (better peal and stick type) if any company still sells that style.
Replaceable cord? Depends on price. I'd rather have two sets of phones.

Well, Goodrat, God can change you into believing in Jesus' precious, holy name and you will be surprised at what you have missed by not serving Him before for there is nothing impossible with Him to change hearts and change ways by truly believing God is Jesus born Incarnate and came into the world in man's flesh to die for us by shedding His blood for all sinners which we all are until saved in Jesus' most holy love and forgiving grace! I know of what I speak for I was a sinner, too, but now I am saved, following and serving Him, faithfully, by having everlasting life through His Holy Spirit to be dwelling with Him, forever more! You aren't an Atheist, for if you are truly one, you wouldn't be posting on the CMD Forum at all......so you are an Agnostic and don't know for sure if there is God Jehovah or a Savior, Who is Jesus or not! God has a way to let you know for sure and to draw you to Himself! My prayers are for your salvation and to be able to see you in Heaven where the soul of man never dies and not be in the Lake of Fire suffering in punishment and shame for unbelief and guilty of unforgiven sins! Well I don't really know what a Pastafarian and Ramen is but I still pray that you find Jesus and accept Him as your own blessed, personal Savior, Who already knows and loves you, for you are one of His creations and wants you saved, changed for the better and with Him forever more! Hmmm...I actually don't know what is more sick. The fact that you were making a joke out of something so serious or the fact that you made me think about Ramen noodles......YUCK! Regardless, no amusement found here.
