I'm getting ready to order an E-Trac after years with the Explorer. Any suggestions for good head phones for that detector.

I use the grey ghost ndt's. I think what you were comfortable with on the explorer will be just as good on the etrac. They are a similar beast. jmho HH Joe

I went with the SunRay Pro Golds after trading my SE with Koss phones for my new E-Trac. On my trac, the plug doesn't go all the way into the jack on the battery housing but it works just the same, locks into place and doesn't fall out. I really like these headphones.

This is my first post on this forum. I bought the Arrricanes from Jim Pugh for my Etrac and I am very impressed with both the fit and function of the canes.

Really like my sunray headphones. I also use my Blackwidow headphones a lot. If you detect in areas with lots of noise (beach, windy areas, etc..) the Blackwidows are the way to go. They block out any outside noise better than any headphones out there.

I use the Grey Ghost head phones. I have a very sever hearing lose being deaf in my right ear and having to use a special implant to aid my hearing and only have 45% of my hearing in the left ear wearing a top mounted microphone on that hearing aid. I have to have good clearance on the inside the ear muffs to keep me from having severe audio feed back and making it impossible to hear the different tones.
The Grey Ghosts does a really good job for me especially in hearing the different tones that's so important to all of us.
I owned a Minelab X-terra 70 before this E-trac and had very poor audio ( not enough volume) and was forced to use a preamp to be able to hear period. I had to use the single tone option as I could not hear the different tones the machine offered.
Before purchasing my E-trac I took the 200 + miles drive so I could try this machine to see if it would work for my problem, and was really surprised to find it had more then enough volume and I was able to use the tones as I felt comfortable with.

congrats tippyhound on finding something that works for you and lets you search for the past with the rest of us

Well also have had all the explorer line ups and I have used Black Widows with all of them. There Twice as thick as Grey Ghost so there is even less outside noise and very clear.... But are pricey...

I have used the Gray Ghost NDT for many years. They are excellent. The drawback is they have vinyl ear pads and flatten after use and must be replaced. I recently tried the SunRay Gold which has Leather ear pads. The pads are supposed to last much longer. The Sun Ray Gold needs more volume from the detector than the Gray Ghost, but the leather pads are thicker and more comfortable.
