Heads up - Michigan State Parks

The new citizens committee is being choosen for offering advice to Gov. J. Granholm and DNR director Rebecca Humphrises about the financial crises of the state parks. These parks are funded by fees, don't receive money from the general fund and tourism makes the parks float. Confused We need to get our voices heard about all the tourists that use metal detectors in our parks while they come to camp and such. Seniors like some of us can not golf anymore and metal detecting is fun. I noticed on most of the maps of the state parks where we may detect that the only areas that we may use are paved!! Whose funny idea was this? The DNR web site gives the committee members names and they are to add their two cents.

Am I paranoid or does out State Archeologist hate us detectorist THAT much to tell DNR we can only hunt on paved surfaces?

Keep the faith, Pete, and know that through prayer God will take care of those meanie Archaeologists and etc. The citizens pay all the taxes for upkeep of parks and recreation areas, but not allowed to do what the Seniors can and like to do....'tis ridiculous and those who hurt their citizens will get their just dues!
