I am 67 and my hearing is not as good as it once was. I am looking for the best after market headphones. Are they Vance's Headphones or Gray Ghost? Thanks in advance for your help.

CZconnoisseur said:I've successfully mated a Deus control box to a wireless hearing aid relay using the 1/8" headphone jack. The signal goes from the Deus - to the wireless HA relay - to the hearing aids. There is ZERO LAG with the setup I used and the audio quality isn't lost going from box>relay>hearing aids.
This setup eliminates the need for either the WS4 or WS5, and should you still have trouble hearing the higher tones, there's an independent volume adjustment via rocker switch on the hearing aids.
CZconnoisseur said:The Phonak relay will work provided you have a 1/8" headphone jack. Simply connect the Deus control box to the relay with a male-male 1/8" jack and you're in business. You might play with the volume control on the relay and/or hearing aids to get the most optimum response from those fringe targets.

i tried that CZ and it works but I didn't like the tones as much so i went back to the WS4's. do you like it that way all the time?

Whoever programs your hearing aids could increase the gain between 100-800Hz, or maybe up to 1000Hz, in that specific wireless program ONLY. I had to play around a little with this part of it but the relay and hearing aids I work with have a different type of sound processing. Admittedly I've been away from Phonak for more than 3 years now, but the principle is the same between brands.
I don't use hearing aids but it happens to be my profession, and the pairing of a metal detector to hearing aids is exciting for me since they can take the place of headphones in many cases. In August we started using a new software platform with all of our new hearing aids, and when XP comes out with v4 I will start using them while hunting. I'll be able to wear a sock cap over the hearing aids rather than the WS5s - since it's getting closer to that time of year. I have a big head and the WS5s get a little tight after 4-5 hours...so there's more than one reason for the pairing.
For the hard-of-hearing folks one has to base-program the aids to that person's hearing loss, and then bias whatever the Deus tone settings (Full Tones, 2, 3, 4-tone, etc) are to that hearing aid program. There's some trial and error, but some people do have trouble hearing 1000Hz tones.

Also able to mate with cellphone. Don't know how yet but will be working to see if I can get the Deus coupled with them.
