Heat shrink on excal coil wire

Say my coil wire was starting to get brittle. I know I need to replace it, but it won't be until this winter when the master fixers on this forum are free to work their magic. Would heat shrink wrap possibly give me a little extra time. If so, I know the coil wire is 6mm. Any suggestions on where to order the wrap and what size? 2 to 1? 3 to 1? Thanks to all.

I assume you are just thinking of cutting ALL the wires? What i found is it splits the more you mess with it. You might try using aqua sound instead because your goal is to keep water from entering the coil thru the shielding. Id dare say thats a cheap fix until you can get it replaced or repaired properly. You were talking about heat shrink TUBE werent you? Pretty stiff stuff. Might look at the adhesive kind.

Thanks, that is absolutely perfect. I'm gonna order now. The Tornado coil cord is brand new. The cord coming out of xcal has the problems about 2 feet down stream of control housing. I'm going to join the wires with an ip68 fitting so I have to cut the cords and then join them. I think this 3 to 1 will get me thru the last days of summer until I can get it professionally done. Thanks again for your knowledge and insight. Bill.
