Don't know when we will get that knee high grass cut......may have to borrow a cow or two to chew it down and then maybe we get to drink the milk! Did you ever think about this: A white, red or black cow eats green grass, produces white milk, heavy cream and yellow butter! Milk is also awful when they eat wild onions and garlic in the spring! YUCK! Just something to ponder and scratch your head about!  :)

God Bless & Happy Hunting!

never really thought about it much Ma Betty. although my parents did move me to a diary farm when I was just turning 16. talk about culture shock. being born an raised here near sac and moving to a town of less then 22 people. more cows then people even. I hated it then but now that im grown..i wish i was there.

They keep the grass short, and leave smaller land mines!

about a mile up the road, I was so surprised one day to see a house with a fenced in area ( not previously fenced in) and there were SHEEP!! REAL LIVE SHEEP!! walking in the back yard...soooooooooo beautiful. I want to take photos of this to post..

Also up the road a ways is one of the few farms remaining around here in the derby area....I think it is the oldest farm in Connecticut...I have to take of pic of this also....they sell home-made ice cream...it is deeeeeeeeeeeeelicious!

I always wished that I had lived on a farm...

Yeh, Mike, but they stink more.....ever smell a bunch of sheep and goats? Pe Uwee......and yes the land mines wouldn't be as bad....cattle do make a terrible mess!

Couldn't mow today either as I woke up sick and Cliff doesn't need to mow the lawn by himself.....just too much for a person on oxygen all the time!

God Bless!

It would be nice, dobbie, to have your children to vacation on a farm and see the difference from city life to country life! It is quite a shock to what a person is used to by living in the Big City! Mom and dad lived in the city for awhile when Cliff and I started school and mom didn't want to raise us in the city, so they bought the farm in 1941 from mom's uncle! The house had only two rooms and a rough board floor....no electricity then....just coal oil lamps! No frig, had a spring box....the water in the spring stayed at 50 degrees, and OH MY no TV! Could only listen to a battery operated radio when there was enough juice! Hard work on a farm, but I learned to be self-sufficient and never had to lean on anyone after I left home......until I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord and now I lean on and trust in Him!

Glad you experienced farm life, for it is much, much different!  :)

I know what you mean, Paul, as Cliff and I filled up the gas can which was a little over 2 gals and it was almost $8.00 I think! Used to fill cars up for less than that! :sadwalk:

But times change and so will they again! Just have to grit our teeth and tighten our belts and make do with less!

I hope and pray you get the job that you interviewed for, but if you don't.....don't give up and God will come through one way or the other!

I hope Michelle is doing better and the Medicaid comes through in paying for the surgery she needs!

God Bless!

Yes, Mike, I would need to by the cow! dad butchered hogs and beef, but mostly hogs for ham, bacon and pork and mom canned the meat or smoked and sugar-cured the hams, as we didn't have any way to keep the meat frozen! I don't want to butcher or anything .......just borrow for a while.....but like Mike, me son, said sheep would keep the lawn short and not make as big a mess! Thanks for your reply and hope you are well and travel safely.....And find lots of goodies!

God Bless!
