Hello from Calgary

Hi everyone -

I'm new to the forum. I just got into MDing this year, when my husband gave me a Bounty Hunter Discovery 1000 metal detector for Christmas. It was something I've wanted to get into for years - I like the historical aspect of it - even though there isn't as much history in Calgary as where some of you are from - there was very little settlement until the late 1880s. I've been having a blast, though.

so far I've been great at finding aluminum pull-tabs and rusty nails - although my favourite finds were a small brass belt buckle and my first wheatie (a little harder to find here in Canada).

Welcome to the forum and you couldn't of picked a better hobby. Congrats on your buckle & your first wheat cent & I hope you find many more.

Welcome to the forum, PeggyK ! Glad to have you on board and posting too! Congrats on your wheatie and buckle find! When you get more used to using your new detector you will probably start finding some really good stuff and I hope you find gold, silver and some sparkling diamonds on the gold also! I hope you post often and pics with your finds! We enjoy reading about and seeing what other people find! Oh, and it's also nice to have another lady detectorist joining the CMD Forum! :)

God Bless!

Peggy. Digadime69 here. It seems funny that you found wheat penny there. As I found a 1906 Canaden one cent coin here in Kansas 6-11-08.
HH Good luck and geter done.

If you have any questions feel free to ask you will get great advice from these pros . Again welcome good to have another lady on board with us.

We are blessed to have another gal on the board. Up till recent we only had one lady. Hope you post often, and we will help all we can.

God bless!

Welcome to the CMD Forum too, digadime69! We are glad to have you on board and hope you post often and also post pics of your finds!

That is wierd for PeggyK to find a wheatie in Canada and you find a Canadian one cent in Kansas and an old one at that! I hope you find a lot of coins and goodies and have lots of fun detecting for them! :clapping:

God Bless!

Thanks Betty. Are you from MO ? I have been in the metal detecting hobby 29 yrs now and still love every min. of it when i get to go. I am 69 and
my new wife of 6yrs and this hobby keeps me young. I use a Tek. T2 . and it is a killer of a coin finder. Love it. Have a good day every one. HH

You are welcome, digadime69! Yes, I live in Missouri and have been all my life! I have a White's XLT Spectrum and I really liked it too when I did go :detecting: but unlike you my health has deteriorated to the point I can't be out in the cold or the hot and humid weather! I have Chronic Obstrutive Pulmonary Dysfunction and hard to breathe.....I tire our very easily and don't feel well most of the time, but my Savior is with me and His joy is my strength to continue on serving Him with gladness! Hope you do really well :detecting: and find lots of nice goodies! I started hunting treasure in the Fall of 1980 and joined the club in July of 1981! I don't belong now but it sure was fun while I could attend and hunt as a group!

But I am okay and though I miss :detecting: I still have my Lord Jesus Christ!

God Bless!

The wheatie wasn't very old - late 50's, but was my oldest find as of yet.
Thank you for the warm welcome
