My Dogwood Tree and Lilac Bush in my yard....the rest of the grassy area is the Common Ground for water overflow and the neighborhood to use!

That is a beutiful picture,it reminds me of my cherry tree. It got damaged pretty bad in that ice storm we had a few weeks ago. Almost every tree in a 50 mile radius was damaged though. We lost power for 15 days also. Man electricity is a good thing. I am like you Ma i am looking forward to spring, to me it is a awesome display of God's creations. Can not wait to see the blooms of everything. That picture really cheered me up seeing the blooms. After this big storm we had I have been kind of down with all of the damage everyone got. Thanks Ma!!!!

Thank you 7centsworth! I truly enjoy the springtime and the fall....'tis beautiful in winter and summer but either too windy and/or cold or hot and humid for me to be comfortable while outdoors! I do have a lot of yardwork to do though when it warms up enough to do it! Sorry to hear about your Cherry Tree, as the ice really causes a lot of damages.....my daughter, Tami and Troy, lost a big tree in front and were without electricity for ten days, but originally was 15 days or more....They even moved back home before the electricity was on....staying with his nephew wasn't working out for all of them! Living with in-laws can be difficult!

There was an ice storm here in St. Louis a few years ago and it destroyed a lot of trees, homes and took a long time for all to get their electric back on for heating and etc. The big pine that you see in the picture was damaged and one on the other side of it was stripped of most of it's limbs....looked like someone took a saw and went down the tree breaking off all the limbs and branches, leaving long stubs!

But before the ice storm we had huge storms come through that summer and caused great damages to many and electric was out for some up to a month or more! Had electric companies coming from far and near to help out! I was one of the luckier ones and was only out of electric for 5 days. Sure was hot then without A/C and all the ice machines were emptied right away! Put bags of ice in my freezer to try and keep the food cold long enough for the electric to come back on! Did throw some of it away.....being too soft and runny....but did spare some! Most of the people in North County and also South lost most of their food supplies! Storms can cause havoc in the world and in our lives when our faith is being tried!

Thanks for your responses to my posts, as I always like to get feedbacks on them! And if I am wrong....which does happen as I am really forgetful in my elderly years....just let me know! :;smile: God Bless! Betty

Thanks, dobbie! I don't have one in Cuba at my new home, so will miss it terribly when I move! My youngest daughter, Tami, brought it and the Lilac bush home on Arbor Day from her school when she was young....about 7 or 8 years old, I think! Just little sticks when we put them in the ground and she is 40 years of age now, so the tree is past 30 years in its growth and blooming! I have enjoyed it for many, many years and my neighbors always comment on how beautiful it is each year! It was planted in the right spot....just outside my kitchen window and in full view! God has blessed me greatly with His love and goodness! The treeturns a bright red in the fall, except last fall, as there was just too much rain and the leaves fell off too early!

I'm sure you will have flowers blooming in no time! Spring is just around the corner and it isn't as wide a curve any more! :) God Bless! Betty

looks like I will be plowing tonight and tomorrow! :)

Ma--Thanks for the picture of the dogwood. I love to spend time in the yard. Plant more flowers and trees every year. Looking forward to spring and the beauty that God sends our way. I'll post a picture of some of our floweres and trees from last spring for you to look at.
