Help / advice in how to locate two old civil war posts

I have been spending lots of time researching the city of Burlington IA records in hope of finding the exact location of two old civil war posts / camps. I have two old 1870s maps. One post, camp Warren, was said to be located in the old fair grounds. However - locating exactly where the old fair grounds was has been a chore. Some old timers said the old fair ground was ripped out to make way for a interchange in the late 60s. As for the other camp - camp Leiman (spelling may be wrong) - no good clues whatsoever - except some old diary entries that said it was located "near" camp Warren.

If any of you old civil war historians know how I might find other leads - please let me know. I have even tried finding out where any of the dirt that was removed from where some say the old fair grounds was dumped. No dice. Only leads are the old fair grounds were located somewhere "near" Agency and Roosevelt streets. A current map has some interesting street names (see photo).

"The Des Moines County fairgrounds, located in the high country west of the city, was selected as Camp Warren, the infantry camp. It was named for Fitz Henry Warren who had been commissioned as colonel of the First Iowa Regiment, then in the process of organization. I also found that Birdseye view map and thought that you are looking in the right location. I does appear as though that interchange might be in the area of the old fairgrounds. It would be a shame if it was!!!!

You can see that just below West Burlington, there is a spot marked Fairgrounds. I think this map is from 1904. I dont know if this is the current fairgrounds, or if there was one before this one.

And by roughly comparing that map and a recent map I would think that the site might be in the area where I made a red circle...

But it could easily be interpreted as being on the west side of that North-South Road.

To see the map, you have to click on the County Map section of the menu to the left of the document, then chose Des Moine County. Then you have to scroll over and zoom in on the area of West Burlington. Sorry. I thought copying the browser address would get you to the right spot. I wuz wrong.
