Hi everyone, new to the site, need some help. I have had a gti2500 for about 8 years. Used with limited success some most of it is probably the places i have tried to hunt. Have only found 1 silver dime and a handfull of wheaties, plenty of clads. I had the original coil on it until a few weeks ago when it broke. I got a new coil and now it does not seem to work the same, thinking the sensitivity may be to high for the new coil beeps on targets all the time. I have not been able to find many coins with the new coil mianly because of frustration and lack of knowledge with my detector. Even though I have had this detector for awhile I am pretty much a newbie, I had it put away for a few years because of lack of success. But reading thruogh these forums and seeing what everyone is finding wants me to get back into it. Anyone with experience with the 2500, can you help? Thanks

Set your sensitivity at 6 or 6.5 and leave it there. Turn your threshold down to just a very slight hum. If you have the new black coil it performs a little differently than the white one and pinpoints in a different spot - the center tip of the inside loop on the coil. Keep the coil off the ground at least an inch.
To pinpoint center the target side to side then drag the coil straight back until the instant the signal stops. The target will be under the center tip of the inside loop. Deep targets will be a little further back from that point. Centering the targets correctly is crucial with a GTI for accurate readings etc. You can't get sloppy with it. GTI's will often ID quarters as cents until you jockey the coil around a bit while in pinpoint to get it centered correctly.

Reset your metal detector by pushing and holding the power button for five seconds until she says that the factory settings have been restored.

Welcome to the forum. I'm struggling with my GTI-2500 too. It's more me than the detector, tho. Good luck.
Thanks for the tip about the center tip or the inside of the coil, Uncle Willy. I haven't been very far off doing my pinpointing, but the more you know, the more you find and the quicker you get back to finding other targets.
