Help!!! :help: Did anyone see NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams tonight? (RE: fines for leaving holes on the beach...)

TONE JUNKY, the first week of June looks like some really good minus tides for this area but the lows will be in the afternoons. Maybe you can talk the wife into one or two afternoons on the beach that week. Sand build up will probably be pretty high but there should be some good recent drops to find. Isle of Palms is a pretty productive area with some really good finds once in awhile. I know I may be contradicting myself here but I wouldn't worry too much about the proposed ordinance bringing any bans on metal detecting just yet. From what I've heard they will have a hard time even enforcing an ordinance if it does get passed as their police department is very small. Still, I think everyone on the beach should cover their holes up due to the number of people running and playing and also biking on the beach. Anyway, unfortuately I won't be here during the time you'll be here I'm sorry to say. I hope you and your wife have a wonderful time here, though and also hope you take some loot home with you. Just make sure you leave some for me.
Jerry

Thanks for starting this post Stacey, it reminds us old dogs to cover our holes and puts the subject out there for the new hunters to learn what leaving holes can cause us to loose. They are called Public beaches for a reason, they are there to be shared by every one. This time of year here in Fl. do to the crowds on the beach day and night I can see where holes in the beach could cause a danger. I have stepped in holes in the shallow water unexpectedly and jarred my teeth, or loose my balance and stumble around like a drunk. Thanks again. HH
