Help picking a 6" coil

shedncoin

New member
Looking to pick up a 6" coil for a 505. I hunt alot of curb and sidewalk tear outs since that's my line of work. Unfortunately, theres alot of junk for my stock 9", and I like to have more separation. For the most part I'm looking for coins, but jewelry's a plus. Where I'm at in Northern Ohio my average ground balance is 5-14, so I think its safe to say its on the high side of mineralization. My question is do I go with the HF 6" or the MF 6". Any opinions welcome...Thanks.

Since most of your searching won't be for deep stuff, and since jewelry is also on your hit list, I'd probably go with the HF DD. It will separate better in high trash areas and hit on low conductors like gold better than the MF CC.

I was a little concerned about how well the XT 6" DD HF coil would hit on coins because of being a high frequency coil (18.75 khz.), but it ended up being outstanding on coins and was surprised to see how small of gold it would hit on. It has good depth and separation abilities too.
