HELP??? rod failure

my lower rod has become disconnected from the connecter which connects it to the loop. It looks like it was just glued onto it. If so, can anyone tell me what the right glue would be, and, if not, how else should I go about putting it back together?

Are you talking about the plastic piece that is connected to the coil? Between there and the lower rod?
There really is no way to fix it, except one. One time I used 2 ton epoxy and glued it back on. Then I took about a 6 or 8 inch piece of 3/4" or 1" (can't remember) schedule 40 pvc pipe and split it down the middle lengthwise. Heated a pan of boiling water on the stove and put the pvc in. Then when it was pliable I formed it around the joint and epoxied it on. It never broke again and I use my detector as a crutch to get my fat butt off the ground. It makes it a lot heavier though. If I can find it I will take pics.
You can replace the lower rod with the new carbon fiber lower rod and eliminate that problem all together. I still have the old rods and the one I am using is getting real loose. When it lets go I will by the new rod.

Thanks for your reply. As it happens, this is the carbon fiber rod. It came loose from the bracket to which the coil is mounted. This might clarify it a little.
