HELP! shaft cam locks

I know this has been asked before by Jeff in Georgia but he got no replies so heres a new prompt,I am making my own set up to replace the crappy Excal shaft set up and replacing a broken one on my old Tesoro so does someone know where you can get the shaft cam locks? I haven't tried the detector manufacturers yet as I reckon they'll charge an arm and leg (if they'll sell them) and anyway they must get them from a supplier out there! <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?">

lordmartin,
I do not know about the supplier of cam locks, but here is a suggestion:
If you are "handy" with what you are doing, you might want to think about a camera tripod. I saw a neat shaft on a classified forum, and it looked like a camera tripod leg. Folds to a small package. Since it is a straight shaft, there would have to be a grip handle attached. Use you imagination.
Also, another fellow once posted about using parts from a cane. The cam locks are different, but prolly better.
I hope these suggenstions might jolt some creativety in you.
good luck.

I'm also still looking. Found several different types but none the same as any of my detectors use.
I also saw the one using a tripod leg. It looked good but not sure about the weight/strength? Since it was not round, it would be harder to make the coil mount, grip, arm cuff, ect...
Let me know if you come up with anything!

I just finished buying two sets as I am building a straight shaft set-up for my Sovereign. They are for a Fisher but would fit most shafts that are 7/8". They consist of three peices and other than notching a little square hole in the rod are not hard to install. They cost me about $7.00 Canadian per set from a local dealer. Hope this helps.
