:throw:HERE I GO AGAIN:I HAVE MICROSOFT"EXPRESS OUTLOOK" FOR MY E.MAIL HAVE TWO ACCOUNTS ME&MY WIFE.MY E.MAIL YOU CAN SEND &RECEIVE,BUT HER E.MAIL SHE CAN RECEIVE BUT CANNOT SEND OUT:throw:BEEN CALLING AROUND SINCE 7AM SAME OLD STORY,MICROSOFT SAIDS ITS SOFTWARE $$$,CALLED DELL-HAVE THREE YEARS WARRANTY--ALSO AND- $$$,WENT TO MY CARRIER-THEY SAY ABSOLUTELY ITS OUT-LOOK EXPRESS,BECAUSE WE CAN SEND AND RECEIVE THROUGH THEM OK(SUDDENLINK.NET).SO,ANYWAY I LOOK--$$$$$,:rage:DELL SAIDS ITS SOFTWARE IT CAN BE FIX OVER THE PHONE.WONDER IF I CAN GO SOME WHERE AND BUY A DISC. PUT IT IN AND FIX IT WITH ANOTHER VERSION---THATS ALSO$$$$!!:surrender:WHAT ELSE CAN I TRY???TRIED RESTORING IT -NO WORKEE,SHUT IT DOWN,ECT.:shrug:

One thing to check is your outgoing server information.

In Outlook express go to the top menu and then click on the following: Tools-->Accounts-->Properties(this one will be noted as default)-->then the "SERVERS" tab. Look and see what is shown in INCOMING MAIL (POP3) and also what is shown in OUTGOING MAIL (SMTP).

Compare the settings from the account that you have that works to the account that does not work. If you use the same internet provider they should be the same.

I had my pc at work goof up and lose my outgoing mail settings. I could receive mail but not send it out.

The fact that you can use one account but not the other leads me to believe that the OUTGOING MAIL (SMTP) setting on the account may be off.

THE CARRIER SAID,IT WAS OUT-EXPRESS,BECAUSE IT CHECKED OUT OK USING THEIR E.MAIL SERVICE,WE CHECK ED EVERYTHING YOU MENTION ABOUT.EITHER I PAY MICROSOFT TO FIX IT OR USE THE CARRIERS E.MAIL SERVICE FROM HERE ON?

One thing you may want to try before you get Microsoft or some other place to fix it (at high cost)is get someone nearby to come look things over.

Do you know any high school age person? Most of the kids now-a-days are really computer savy. If you had a relative or someone that knows computers that lives near by - have them come and take a look at it. Do you belong to a local metal detecting club? maybe there is someone there who is a computer geek. How about your church? Seems like every church I have know has a computer guru.

I, myself, would try to find a friend - or a friend of a friend to come over to look at the computer.

I can remember when I started monkeying around with computers years ago, man there was no one to ask. I had to just keep on changing things and go by trial and error. Now what I do when I cannot find an answer is that I type the error message in a goggle search window and look on various internet forums. I figure whatever problem I have someone else would have had it and solved it.

You may be able to find a computer help forum that has an understandable answer to your mailing problem. Some forums I have went to have been like Greek to me.

Oh, in regards to the welcomes. Heh maybe it should be welcome back for me. I use to post here when the forum was first created. If I remember correctly a lot of us use to post on another forum run by someone named Marc and I think there were some objections to religious messages in some of the posts, which would sometimes be deleted, so a few people left to form the Christian Metal Detecting Forum. That is what I remember anyways.
