Help w/ my Whites 6000 Di Pro Coinmaster

My old whites detector has a problem. It is goes on and off on its own will. I have to tap it, on the side, to get it to turn on. I know that can't be right! Problem is I dont know when it turns off??? I maybe swinging with a off MD. Plus, my battery meter will indicate a very good battery strenght and then it will show a very low low battery. It does this even if there are brand new batteries in it? Also at times, when I turn the unit on it won't go on? Thanks for any help!!

SOunds like battery connections or maybe the regulator is going bad..but check the connections.. It has the c batteries right.....try a gentle pull out on the connectors inside battery compartment...and also make sure the batteries are ok in the holder..might need spring adjustment.

The easy fix is to put a peace of foam rubber between the top of the battery and the case where it closes to tighten the connection...This is if your too squeemish to pull on the battery tabs on the inside...

HH,

I think they have summed it up,except when my 6000 used to geek out on me I would turn it on and then open the battery compartment to reboot it like a computer. worked every time for me...
