help with determining between"one sided silver" and leached old iron object

Can someone give a detailed explanation of the sound differences between " one sided silver" and old rusted iron. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Bryce would be better at this one than me.... but, rusted iron to me gives a twang that tends to grab more than coins. Also most rusted iron or say bolts dont repeat the way a coin might.

what I posted below. I'm not saying this holds true for all iron type iffy hits...but about 9 out of 10 times IF iron is involved...this is exactly what I'm talking about...and how I decide whether or not to dig.

I tried the same area today, with "deep" and "fast" ON, everything sounded like high pitched silver. Also, had "all metal" with iron mask @ -12. Just got 1 - 1895 V and 5 old buttons. 1 looked like a $2.50 Gold until; I cleaned it up... kinda dissapointed.

As far as your comments... of my settings I tried today, what would be your picks? I know there is still alot of old silver in the ground there. It was a vegatable stand for 100-150 years. What a gold mine.. I just need to figure out how to get the deeper stuff, with the usual high amount of iron and other junk metals found on older farms. Please comment.

BTW, I am using EXII w/X-1 probe, Pro 11 Coil/ sometimes the SEF 6x8.

Also, whats your opinion of the detection depth difference between the Pro11 and the SEF 6x8??

Thanks for your comments, I certainly appreciate it.

Between the coils... i doubt you will find a lot of depth difference. Not because there isnt, but because you are going to NULL the coil over deep iron and trash anyway, especially if you have sensitivity too high. Reduce your sensitivity until you notice your smart find moving matching the tones... or just use auto sensitivity. Nulls causes the coil to desensitize much like squeezing a sponge. Use the small coil it gets good depth until you clean the area out a bit. Personally id not run DEEP on, because it works like increased gain making the deep sounds louder. Nor would i use FAST... it shorten the tones and the TID isnt as accurate to me. AM would serve you well .... just move slowly. Sounds like you have one heck of a spot... good hunting.
